What can I eat to help my nails grow healthier?

My nails grow quite long but are always brittle and break easily, I cut them regularly because of this but I'd like to let them grow. Is there anything I could change in my diet or any vitamins I could have for this. What can I eat to help my nails grow healthier?
Vitamins make your nails grow stronger and longer. So does eating or drinking dairy products. I also recommend that nail polish stuff that helps your nails grow and at the same time it lets out bitter formula to stop you biting them. What can I eat to help my nails grow healthier?
i don't know if this is fact or not but i heard strong nails are past down in your family.

i have really strong nails and so does my mum.

also i'm a vegetarian, i eat heaps of veggies, drink heaps of milk and also take a vitamin tablet daily.

just having a really good diet will repair your whole body, so maybe that's the case?

xo Ruby
You could definitely drink milk, but there are some vitamins you can take(I forgot what they were called!)just go to the pharmacy and tell about your nails and see if they can help you.
take a regular multi-vitamin like centrum. It doesnt cost much, maybe about 5 bucks for 50 capsules at walmart. I have long hair, and pretty strong nails now.

The vitamin Biotin is great for nails.
Milk,water,fruit juice,fruit
calcium calcium!!!

drink MILK!!
calcium will help,so drink lots of milk, also use an anti break polish for brittle nails, and use top coats!goodluk x

fish.beancurd.milk and etc.

What is the best thing to do to make your nails grow long, strong, and healthy?

lots of protein, calcium, dont bit them, good manicure, maybe some nail strengthening nail polishWhat is the best thing to do to make your nails grow long, strong, and healthy?
Since your nails are hair it is important that you get plenty of protein and calcium. What is the best thing to do to make your nails grow long, strong, and healthy?
You can take prenatal vitamins. They also help your hair grow too.
The best thing to do is to drink plenty of milk and or orange juice. Drink lots of water and visit the nail salon with a manicure every week. Always try to see the same person so they will know how to treat your nails...
vitamin e pills work wonders for hair and nails!
Aside from vitamins and proper diet, there is a product I've seen on TV called ';T.I.P.S.';

Either from HSN or QVC (I believe QVC)

Go to their website hsn.com or qvc.com, it's one of them.

I have rough, peeling toenails and my doctor said it is a zinc deficiency. Why are my finger nails so healthy?

Your toes are farther away than your finger tips. The are more of an extremity than your fingers. Also, you use your fingers, so they get stimulated and have more blood flow. I have rough, peeling toenails and my doctor said it is a zinc deficiency. Why are my finger nails so healthy?
It may only be showing in your toenails if they aren't as well taken care of ie. moisturized etc. But if he ruled out fungus, there probably isn't much you can do. Some people are just like that.

  • How to get stronger and healthier nails?

My nails are brittle and break easily. Are there any particular foods I should eat or vitamins to take to make my nails stronger? How to get stronger and healthier nails?
I had the same problem, especially after curing my addiction to acrylic nails. There is a product called ';Nailtique.'; It costs $13, but it is sooo worth it. It is clear and you apply it daily. My nails grew back and became thicker in about a month. I still use it off and on, mixed in with Sally Hansen products (which I agree with everyone else on). As far as vitamins, always take a multivitamin, but also take Biotin, which is great for your hair and nails. How to get stronger and healthier nails?
I Suffred tooo....and these are some remedies that helped me

Gelatin..just Put Some In Your Milk n DRink It

Dip The For 5 mIns In Olive Oil

Use Sally Hansen Products...Best Thing Ever

    Yup Thats All

Moisturise Your Hands With Vitamin E Cream - An Essential
Rub garlic on your nails as often as possible and it will get stronger. Also, don't soak them in the water for a long time. Use gloves when washing.
I know anything with jellatin will make them grow .My nails grow very fast but I love jello.
Use a non-acetone polish remover. It is less drying.
saly hansen is number one. get one called diamond hard i think with nylon. the nylon ones are the best . and sally hansen is number one again!

oh and take a regular multivitamin such as centrum regular. that should help the process and maintain ur nails for a lifetime lolz
Sally Hansen has products for this problem. Eat food with protein...keep your nails just above the tip....don't ';saw'; your nails when filing them....use gloves when your hands are in water...use a good hand and nail moisturizer.
Eat Jello! I think they even have Gelatin pills that can help too. Or you could put a clear top coat on your nails everyday.
I have a nail polish remover that helps to make weak nails slightly thicker and a lot stronger.

    My nails never broke since...

It is called: Sally Hansen and it has vitamins E%26amp; hydrated ehat protien.

It is 8 fl oz/ 236.5 ml and works everytime.

How do i get rid of hangnails and make my nails healthier? any tips homemade tips?

i have ugly fingers :( and i am a girl:(How do i get rid of hangnails and make my nails healthier? any tips homemade tips?
First start by cleaning your nails using a scrubbing brush and a mild soap.

Then dry them thoroughly and apply a light hand cream.

Now wait til the hand cream has soaked in and then using a nail file, file your nails down to one length even if they are really short.

Now rinse your hands to get rid of any dust from filing.

Now your ready to paint start with applying two coats of paint in a bright color and then add a clear top coat when dry.

Every week take off the nail polish and apply cuticle cream/oil and file nails neatly.

Eventually they will reach the length you desire.

    Remove Nail polish thoroughly.

Note! Keeping nails painted all the time actually makes nails stronger! Just be sure to refresh your polish.

    Scrubbing brush

    Mild soap

    Towel

    Hand Cream

    Nail File

    Coloured nail polish

If my nails grow really fast and healthy, does that ussually mean that hair is growing fast and healthy?

just curious about if healthy nails usually a sing of healthy growing hair tooIf my nails grow really fast and healthy, does that ussually mean that hair is growing fast and healthy?
YES It does because hair and nails are made out of the same material so if your nails are growing so is your hair.If my nails grow really fast and healthy, does that ussually mean that hair is growing fast and healthy?
Hair and nails are 2 completely different tings. If you take good care of your hair, that does not mean your nails will look fine to.
    Yes.
No, I don't think so. The best way to get longer hair faster is to massage the scalp to increase the blood flow and there are theories on vitamin supplements but I've not heard any real evidence on that.
Well, for me I have both healthy hair and nails. It might mean that your body is healthy and make sure to drink plenty of water[fyi i drink 6 bottles, yes 6, of water a day]

My nails never seem to grow and they always chip! How can I get stronger and healthier nails?

someone plz just type up all the info you know on how to take care of this stuff so i can follow and print it outHow can i have healthy hair, nails, feet, face, and other types to take care of?
    Take vitamins

    Use moisturizing lotions

Dont use so much product in your hair

    Use natural shampoo

    Go natural for most stuff

Eat lots of veggies and fruitsHow can i have healthy hair, nails, feet, face, and other types to take care of?
Organic, organic, organic. E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! It's what your body wants :)

Try Burt's Bees. It's inexpensive compared to other organic products.

    Brush your hair daily

    Shampoo every other day

Don't dry your hair it makes it frizzy

Condition hair daily, deep condition weekly (Burt's Bees coconut deep conditioner)

Scrub skin in the shower with a loofa

Don't use nail polish and if you do, use organic.

Scrub your feet with a pumas stone in the shower

Use a facial clay mask once a week

Use face scrub 3 times a week

Wash face 2 times per day

Don't wear tons of makeup and if you do, try Physician's Formula all natural makeup that won't break you out.

Take good quality vitamins such as Standard Process.(Available through a natural doctor or chiropractor) Take a multivitamin and one for skin and hair. Standard Process vitamins actually work because they're literally ground up food. You can't expect to buy any old Wal-Mart vitamin and have it work wonders.

Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Drink TONS of water and exercise. Tazo organic green tea is good for your skin too. It's and antioxidant.

    Good luck though!
well if your hair is natural then use an all natural shampoo and conditioner .. if not to mask damaged hair hydralicious the purple stuff works wonders

nails?.. i dont know, take care of them and get rid of dead skin at the cuticle,

use a face mask and a purifying cleanser :)
They say take a lot of Zinc... but I suggest your search the internet since there are plenty of different solutions except for the hair which might be destined to be damaged!

Your hair and nails are the last parts of your body to receive hydration and nutrients. So for healthy, beautiful, strong nails, eat a nutritious diet and drink 64 ounces of water a day. In reality, there are no miracle conditioners or polishes, just beauty companies trying to make more money. Sorry.

As far as the moons go, those are where your nail connects to the root. They show on some people, not on others. You cannot get rid of them. If you find them unattractive, use a color polish to cover them up.
    Eat protien.
    Best to google this question..
does little moon are there for a reson. and if you like nice nails then you have to show them. it looks very nice when you get them polished , so eat a vitamin e every day and your nails will grow and you can look after them the way you like.

I want healthy nails and hair!?

I want to grow my hair out but im having a hard time. Is there some kind of vitamin or something that will help my nails and hair grow faster?I want healthy nails and hair!?
Biotin. take the advice or leave it...lol I have really long nails and hair...used to have short hair and bite my nails all the time...drink plenty of water and take a mutivitamin...everyone will tell you this..even a doctor or dermatologist

    Biotin has NO side effects

Also added benfit of biotin...helps your metabolism...and breaks down fatty acids better!

also DO NOT take the pre and post natal vitamins...its not for a regular person. not recommendedI want healthy nails and hair!?
Take a multivitamin every day and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. If you want healthy hair, wash it every day with shampoo and use conditioner every day or every other day. Brush it every morning and evening. Use a comb when it's wet.

For healthy nails, keep them trimmed and/or filed at all times. It's fine to have them long, but don't let them get so long that they bend or break easily. Occasionally painting them is fine, but don't have them painted at all times. Every now and then, use a hardening nail laquer clear polish.

    Hope this helps! :)
centrum actually does make a vitamin that helps hair and nails grow. They're like prenatal vitamins for women who aren't pregnant. lol

but it also helps if you take care of your hair and nails.

Nutra Nail green tea is a phenomenal help with nails that won't grow. My nails will not grown, now I use that and I can't even believe how they look.

as for you hair, just be nice to it.

Vitamin E and D. You can get pots of E45 which you can rub on your face and leave on your nails for 10 mins or so which should help.

You can get Vitamin D from milk, cheese etc. And some responsible sun exposure. What are vitamins i can take to make my skin and nails healthier?

Is it healthy painting stripes on your hair white using nail polish and then ironing it straight?

I want highlights before picture day. (2 days from now) I'm afraid i wont get them by then. So, i tried a little experiement. While i was painting my nails I thought. Hmm what if i make a small stripe after i did that. I decided to iron it straight. It came out just like those scene girls. Then i tried rinsing it of. It didnt come off. Is this normal. Please tell me if it is healthy. I want highlights but also dont want to spend 20-35 dollars. Is it healthy painting stripes on your hair white using nail polish and then ironing it straight?
i'd try taking it out, by using nail polish remover.

if you get a natural shine product, the lights in the camera room, will give you all the highlights you need... it also makes your hair look more silky. don't use too much or else your head will look greasy.

i know frizz-ease hair serum, and garnier fructise makes nice shine products... and there are a few others. they have self highlight kits in the store too.... which are alot cheaper than any price put out there for this question...................

you'll be fine. Is it healthy painting stripes on your hair white using nail polish and then ironing it straight?
well putting nail polish in your hair if just ridiculous. seriously.

and straightening your hair after is even worse. NEVER straighten your hair with ANYTHING in it. it will fry your hair for good.

the polish will stay in your as long as it would stay on your nails.
lol thats not healthy at all.

    please dont do that.

and just spend the little amount of money to let the professionals do it.

the last thing you wanna look is scene.

(oh and highlights are like 40-60 dollars. not 20-35.)
    dont do that.

the last thing you wanna do is look like a scence girl.

why would you want to do that anyway?

Is it not healthy to dye your hair and get your nails done when you are pregnant?

There are many opinions about whether you can color your hair while you are pregnant. Unfortunately, there are very few scientific studies on the effects of hair dye used during pregnancy. In some animal studies doses 100 times the amount of hair dye used in normal application showed no significant change in fetal development.

There are high levels of various chemicals in hair color. Low levels of these can sometimes be absorbed through the skin after being applied, and the dye is known to be secreted in urine. The larger danger in hair coloring lay in the fumes, which can be inhaled in greater amounts than will absorb into the skin. Perhaps the greatest risk of the fumes is that they make you nauseous rather than be dangerous for the baby.

There are certain precautions you should take when coloring your hair while pregnant. As always, you should first consult your physician for any recommendations. Second, make sure that you have your hair colored in a well-ventilated area. This will prevent the fumes from making you nauseous. Always wear protective gloves if you are coloring your own hair, as this will prevent the dye from being absorbed into your body through your hands. Rinsing your scalp with cold water can also slow or reduce absorbtion.

There are many ';off-scalp'; coloring methods, such as foiling and tipping that can be used. These methods, of course, do not reduce the amount of fumes that you will breathe in. If you are still concerned, you should ask your physician about these methods.

As far as nails go ...

Getting your nails done is not really harmful to a fetus, but the fumes and the possible exposure to bacteria and other disease are. Choosing a nail salon that is well ventilated and sanitary will reduce the risks involved. However, any infections that you may encounter will likely affect your child. Is it not healthy to dye your hair and get your nails done when you are pregnant?
well you can dye your hair as long as its not to often. and getting your nails done( if you mean acyrilic) is not good. if its just a pedi. and mani. then thats okIs it not healthy to dye your hair and get your nails done when you are pregnant?
it's safe to dye your hair in the second trimester. but make sure the room is WELL ventilated. i did it and my daughter is fine. double check with your OB if you have any concerns. they know MUCH more about baby's development %26amp; how things can harm them in utero.

as far as nails, i would say, as long as the place you is well ventilated, but again, check with your OB.
no because the chemicals arent good for ur baby. n u dont want ur child to be born w. defects
This is my 3rd pregnancy and my OBGYN supplied me with a list of do's and don'ts during pregnancy --- hair dying is okay as long as you are in a well ventilated area - if you do it all home, make sure your windows are open!! As far as getting your nails done, there was nothing on that, but I would not recommend that because of all the nail places I have been to, none have been ventilated and it stinks badly because of all the polish and chemicals.....
Don't listen to anyone, I got my hair dyed and my nails done like clock work and I gave birth to two healthy babies, its what you put into your body that harmful, not what you do on the outside... I even got my waxes done, I am sorry I was not about to walk around like a sorry excuse just because I am pregnant, I also worked out of course nothing heavy but yeah I did my exercises.. And yet again my babies were born healthy and happy... I asked my doctor and he told me to eat right, excises and get plenty of sleep...
I have always heard that getting your hair dyed while you are pregnant is not a good idea because of the chemicals that are used are applied to your scalp and penetrate the skin, therefore can get into the bloodstream.

I would say that the only reason that you shouldn't get your nails done, is because of the chance of inhaling the chemicals which are used.

I would say....be a natural pregnant woman! You'll have plenty of time to get pretty when the baby is here. Well...maybe a couple of months after the baby is here!

    Best Wishes
it is not recommended to have your hair dyed during a pregnancy, due to the chemicals involved, but I see nothing wrong with getting a little nail pampering in.

Get ';Hair, Skin, Nails'; vitamins at any drugstore. It really does work. Has supplements, like Biotin, for extra growth. The bottle I bought was at CVS, the brand was Life Fitness, and it was only like 8 bucks for a month's supply.

Have Brittle Nails, I want them to grow healthy and strong so that I can get manicures, and not break.?

I've never been able to grow my nails very long... they don't really break, but somehow they always get a tear that ends up getting ripped off. Is there a Vitamin that I can be taking to grow stong nails?Have Brittle Nails, I want them to grow healthy and strong so that I can get manicures, and not break.?
Just use a nail hardener nail polish, they are clear and inexpensive. They work great.

After you take ur french tip off, how can u make ur nails look healthy again?

Doing French tips shouldn't be making your nails yellow. If they are most likely it's your nailpolish. I've done French tips for 3 years and at first I used a crappy $1 nailpolish, which made my tips yellow but that was okay because I painted over it straight away. Then I switched to Revlon and OPI and I haven't been getting yellow nails since.

There's no way to 'heal' a nail that is already yellow, you'll need to wait for it to grow out. (Actually I've read about some home-made cures like using lemon juice I think, but you'll have to Google that.) To prevent yellow nails, use a base coat or a better polish.

I want long, strong healthy nails?

Any tips on how I can improve my nails, they are weak and always break on the sides. I have never been able to grow them, they are also quite flat.I want long, strong healthy nails?
Firstly don't get nail extensions as they deprive your nails of light and air which weakens them even more! Eat a diet high in protein (it's what nails are made of) and strengthen from within. You can buy stuff that strengthens nails as well such sally Hansen's miracle cure....Hope that helps.I want long, strong healthy nails?
always wear rubber gloves when putting hands in detergents or washing powder, etc. also before bed gently file any 'nicks' or rough edges at the end of the nail and then put on a good hand cream taking extra care to rub it in the cuticles and over the nail. also make sure your diet contains enough protein and don't use your nails as 'tools' .
i have the same problem, i have acrylic tips now which are fantastic. however if you do not want or cannot afford tip there is an oil that is used to help protect acrylic nails which is great for natural nails too. it is Solaroil by creative... contains vitamin e and helps your nails grow. probably only available in beauty salons but well worth a try. i use it even when i dont have my tips on and my nails are better now than they have been in years.
Eat a cube of jelly a day
Oh, I can sympathise, I have exactly the same type of nails as you. I once asked my GP and he said that most of it is genetic and there's not a lot you can do about it. Having flat nails also doesn't help as there's less resistence and therefore they bend easily. The only options are to put on nail varnish or get false nails or extensions. You can try to improve your diet as well, but I personally found this didn't really help me!
    I love u
wear nailvarnish with a base coat and top coat on. go to a salon and they can do that for u. but if they are no very nice anyway why not go for fab fake ones?
I use Lee calcium enriched strengthener from bodycare. It really does work, my mum who has never been able to grow her nails started using it, after I told her about it. Even she is having good results, she's told all her friends about it too. You use it as a base coat for 5 days then every other day results are pretty quick
if you eat healthy...lots of fruit and have lots of calcuim in your diet
hello. i bite my nails so i dont know if you do, but there is this nail polish from sally hansen called 篓miricle growth篓. its in a gold bottle and it works wonsers! it streghens the nin 5 days! they grow, and look more healthy! good luck hope this helped!
I think you can try OPI nail polish, they have a product called Envy, which can make your nails stronger. I am using it as well. As I know, you have to polish it everyday, can't be lazy if u want to be pretty. First day, you polish two layers, after that each day you just polish one until the seventh day as you need to remove them and start the cycle again.

There is two options for the Envy, one is original (grossy) and one is matt. I like the matt one, but up to you, as the functions are just the same. You can buy them in the department stores / the beauty salons. Coz both of us got weak nails, we better not to grow the nails too long. If they are broken, it is v. ugly.... ^_^

For the flat nails, I think you can use the nail polish as well, but which brand and which model I don't have any ideas. You can ask the sales in the beauty salons and have a try.

    drink lots of water.

don't do the whole fake nail thing.

it strips the hardness from your real nail.
well your nails are just an excess of protein and calcium then eating things like meet eggs cheese and milk will work

Are these healthy looking nails...? http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2012/picture003ooo.jpg?

I recently stopped biting my nails and I am 16 and have always been self conscious about them. are these like what a girl would consider healthy looking nails....Are these healthy looking nails...? http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2012/picture003ooo.jpg?
they just look like regular guys nails.

looks good though cuz they aren't dirty

although, dirty nails are sometimes nice on a guy, it shows he is a hard workerAre these healthy looking nails...? http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2012/picture003ooo.jpg?
    not really
make sure you are taking care of them and pushing your cuticals back you have to wait for them to grow more to start seeing big results but they are coming along
    16?

    No not really.

    But fake nails can help.

    STOP BITING THEM.

You're putting all the germs and crap you touch into your mouth.

    It's like licking everything.

That's how you get sick, and that's how kanker sores occur.

If It's really bad, try wearing band aids or gloves to keep yourself from biting them.

I have those type of nails, but that's because I cut mine so I can wear fake nails.
They look like they're in the process of healing after being bitten for a long time.

They don't look unhealthy though. I've seen some people with nails half the size of what you have! If you're concerned with how they look, you can try wearing some light pink/beige polish to give them a nicer colour. (If you're a girl.. I'm not sure since you didn't say)

    Congrats on breaking the habit!

How can I keep my nails to be long and healthy?

Use a hand and nail moisturiser to keep them in good condition. Also buy a strengthening nail polish- a good one that my girlfriend uses is by Sally Hansen and they come in clear or coloured varieties.

The only other thing you can do is to make sure you have a good diet, as one of the first signs of a bad diet is unhealthy skin/nails. This should include calcium, which is particularly good for your bones and nails. How can I keep my nails to be long and healthy?
    Try Nailtiques
    Get acrylic nails.
no polish. moisturize after washing hands. use a drop of extra olive oil on ur nails. soak them in buttermilk.

    Fertalize them

:]How do I get my nails to be strong, long and healthy? EASY 10 POINTS!
You can buy nailpolish that helps strengthen your nails. Even if it doesn't work, the nailpolish might deter you from biting. Take vitamins, and drink a lot of milk because you need calcium and also protein. Also, eating right and healthy will make your nails healthy as well. Remember, the healthier you are, the healthier your nails will be.

Moisturize your hands and nails! Like skin, your nails are living tissue. Having dry nails causes them to be brittle and slows growth.

Also, contrary to popular belief, doing things like washing the dishes by hand, and taking baths, can actually play a part in nail growth. The soak in hot water can actually help the nails grow.
It really depends on what you are eating. Your nails are sign of your health. If the whites of your nails are clear and your nails are easily bent you are not healthy. If the whites are very white and hard you are healthy.

You are probably not getting enough keratin, which makes hair and nails and the horns that rhinos have, and many other things (hooves, beaks, feathers, claws, etc). I am not sure what food it is found in but below is a webpage which may help.
There is Green tea solutions that help them grow fater and stronger than normal nails. Its in a nail polish bottle. Its at most drug stores and places like walmart. My step-mother uses it because she used to put fake nails on all the time and it ruined the nails itself and had to grow them all over again and she still uses them and they look great! So you can definitly give it a shot since it cant hurt you and its not expensive at all. It will tell you how often to put it on, maybe like twice a day or something.

    Best of Luck

    Take care, Alex
I used to bite my nails to and what i used was Sally Hansen Hard as Wraps. It's sort of like an acrylic gel except less maintenance. It protects your nails and makes it hard for you to bite them because the gel is really hard. If you leave it on long enough your nails will be longer and healthier. I also heard that eating jello will strengthen your nails because of the gelatine in it.
Invest in a manicure and afterwards your nails will be so pretty you can overcome biting them for a while. They will also be protected so they can grow longer. Then, when the polish chips off, keep it up with good clear polish or more manicures.
Take Vitamin E pills (make sure you ask a doctor how much to take--you can overdose on even vitamins!); get sculptured acrylic nails (not glue-on acrylic nails--those kill natural nails!); have acrylic gel put over your own natural nails; use Jergens lotion for extra dry skin (white bottle, light blue cap, orange color on front); get regular manicures... the possibilities are endless. Hope at least one of these helps!
There are some vitamins that you can take to help support your nails. Hehehehe...Kinda forgot what the vitamin was though. To harden your nails, temporarily though, you can use a special nail polish. I believe it is Sally Hanson brand. Good luck with your nails! Hope this helps.
same here, exept i swim and the chlorine makes them sooo weak, what you need to do is stop biting them, and dont touch them, put nail strengthner on them (regularly), and cut them as this makes them strong, after cutting them file them down, then leave them for a week and do the same thing again.
their is a thing called calcium gel, for your nails, that you can buy at drugstores, and you apply it as a base coat and it helps your nails grow in a matter of days. also you should try taking vitamins, or eating healthier. hope this helps.
its hereditary, I have nice long hard nails and my sister doesn't. I do nothing special to make them grow they just do. My sister has tried vitamins, nail creams and expensive nail polish, she still has stubby finger nails that split !!!
i dont know about food but you could buy this stuff http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a… hope this helps :]
Dont chew them, and get a nail polish for nail growth.

If you do chew your nails, there is a nailpolish that you put on

and it tastes gross so you wont wont to chew them.

If your nails are pink does that mean you aren't healthy?

A friend of mine told me that your healthy if your whole nial is white but if they appear purplish pink you need water. If your nails are pink does that mean you aren't healthy?
Not sure, but I do know if they have a bit of white on them you have a lack of calcium :DIf your nails are pink does that mean you aren't healthy?
If your nails are pink that is a good thing. If they are completely white, or blue that is a bad thing as it means that you have poor circulation to your extremities. Your friend had it completely backwards.
Wrong. When you have pink it is healthy. Purple usually means poor circulation.

  • How can I make my nails stronger, so they can be long and healthy and not break easily?

I take ';Pre-natal'; Vitamins... I'm not pregnant, but these vitamins are great and impove hair and nails. Have you ever watched a pregant womans hair and nails grow??? It's miraculus...that's how I got the idea, and now I've got the long hair and nails.

Putting anytype of finger nail polish on the nails makes them brittle, so stay natural...if you have that super special occation, apply the polish enjoy the occation, and then take off the polish at night %26lt;just like you wash your face at night%26gt;.How can I make my nails stronger, so they can be long and healthy and not break easily?
Fragile nails is possibly a symptom of a lack of certain vitamins. Check the drug store, or perhaps talk to a doctor or pharmacist. How can I make my nails stronger, so they can be long and healthy and not break easily?
I wish I knew for sure because I work is a stable but the best thing I know of is this clear strenthening nail polish from revlon. It seems to well.
Take other suggestions under consideration along w/takin Vit. E...It was suggested to me about a year ago %26amp; been takin it ever since..The kind of work I do, my nails always break %26amp; my hair has even been growing longer to.
Apply olive oil ,it makees the nails stronger thus preventing it from breaking and soak them in warm water with a pinch of salt this will keep the nails heathy n clean:)
you need to file them so the white part at the tips doesn'y have any flaking, then use a 3- sided buffer on the whole nail, then cover with a clear protien inriched nail polish, I use sally brand but any will do, the comment that says that nail polish is bad for your nails is not true, it is the remover that is bad for your nails. and the last most important thing it to pay attention to your nails daily, that way if you see brakage and flaking you can keep it from geting any worse.

What can I do to get my hair, skin and nails healthier?

I was wondering how I can get my hair, skin and nails healthier? What products are good for fry skin. What is good for dry, damaged hair. What I can put on my nails to get them stronger and to grow faster. What can I do to get my hair, skin and nails healthier?
For dry skin, use a good moisturiser. The thicker formulas tend to be more moisturising but feel heavier on your skin. Take a look at Cetaphil, Sorbolene, Olay. If your skin is REALLY dry I've heard Palmer's Cocoa Butter is good.

For damaged hair, avoid heat appliances as that is a major cause of dry hair. If you need to use them, use a heat protectant (eg Tresemme Heat Tamer) and if you're getting split ends consider something like Bedhead Ego Boost leave in conditioner/split end mender http://www.tigihaircare.com/consumer/en-鈥?/a> . Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner, a cheap drugstore one I love is Herbal Essences Hello Hydration. Invest in a leave in conditioner or a hair treatment.

For nails Sally Hansen is good, they have a range called Hard As Nails as well as other nail strengthening polishes. http://www.sallyhansen.com/category.cfm?鈥?/a>

You can also take vitamins like Blackmores Nails Hair and Skin. http://www.blackmores.com.au/products/De鈥?/a>What can I do to get my hair, skin and nails healthier?

Yes trim them back all the way so when they grow out they are not weak... Remember they buffed them up so they may be thin and may require a few trims. and of course use some of the products that repair nails and make them strong.

Clear nail polish that is to make your nails strong and shiny. I just had to do this to. And use some really good lotion! What can I do to make my nails healthier?
If you've been taking the hair/skin/nail pills - then you've been taking Biotin already.

I had fake nails for over 10 years, so when I made the decision to have them removed, I had A LOT of damage to correct.

First, I kept them nice and short until the healthy nail grew out. I used a file instead of clippers to reduce flaking and cracking. I kept my cuticles moisturized (get a cuticle/nail moisturizer) and pushed back - and most importantly, I used a product by Opi called ';Nail Envy';. Its pricey, but it lasts a long time and it REALLY works. It kept my nails strong, shiny and protected long enough for them to get healthy and strong.

Now I have strong, beautiful natural nails - it took a few months, but the effort really paid off.
Take Biotin. It comes in capsule forms at any pharmacy. It will make your nails grow and be strong but it will also make your hair grow fast too.
You need a buffer and shiner [you can get one at wal mart for a couple bucks] .. cuticle oil, and a silk nail strengthener. Sally Hansen makes a good one....
use that clear nail polish that helps ur nails grow strong and healthy also try using some moisturizing hand lotion for ur hands it isn't normal for ur fringers to be ashy
    -take biotin

    -use buffer

-or just paint your nails with a clear coat

    -try some other vitamin

Are gel nails healthy for your nails?

hEY..mAh mom does nails..i wouldnt say their healthy but i wouldnt say their not either..they help u from bittin ur nails..so yOoh can get gel on 'em but @least once amonth u need 2 take 'em off %26amp;%26amp; let 'em breathe..hope that helped yaAre gel nails healthy for your nails?
No...none of that stuff is good for your nails..Are gel nails healthy for your nails?
They aren't good for you because they prevent your real nails from ';breathing';. They become yellowed and week and depending on how many times you get them filled, each time creates a ridge in the nail that doesn't go away until it grows out.
no artificial nail is good for your nails... acrylic or gel... either way you have to file the surface down to remove oil so that the nail will stay and not lift. If you want healthy long nails i would recomend OPI's nail envy it is made in 3 different formulas to best suit your needs.
no fake nails are healthy for your nails. the only real healthy thing is real nails themselves. the glue that they put down for fake nails can ruin what you already have. i have seen reports on the television that places have bad water and the glue have ruined their nails for life. Think before you go and get them done. could you stand living without any nails at all?
    nope, sorry
Gel nails are safer than acrylic nails
yes they help your real nails grow faster

Tips to help fingernails grow healthy and atractive looking and nail biting tips?

My 13 year old daughter, after biting her fingernails for about 8 years, has vowed to stop. She just got braces, which is helping her stop a little. The only ones she's bitten since are her tumb nails, which she cut very short.

But, as the nails grow out, we are noticing that they are not looking too good. Years of damage isn't going to leave them pretty I guess. She has cut them very short, which has been helping with the biting a little, but wants to grow them out long. I think that having nice looking nails will stop her from biting at all. So any tips to help them grow out well? They don't have the half-moon shapes and aren't growing striaght. She's worried that they aren't going to get better looking.

And any other tips to help her stop her habit? BESIDES the bad tasting nail polish? It doesn't work for her, and it never has. Thanks!Tips to help fingernails grow healthy and atractive looking and nail biting tips?
My friend taught me this one, clean the nails really good on Monday then paint on 1 coat of clear hard as nails polish, then have her every night through the week put on 1 coat each night. On Sunday you clean off the polish and start over , for some reason this works I used to bite my nails for 30 years and have stopped just by doing this! Also did you know that Jello has an ingredient that naturally thickens and clarifies nails? I did not and that works also!Tips to help fingernails grow healthy and atractive looking and nail biting tips?
Take her to the manicurist, just once. It should help...
make her pay to get her nails done that really helped me cuz you can't bite them they are way to hard and fake!

after a few months i stopped and it helped w/ the hang nails
Hey! I'm actually working on stopping chewing my nails at the moment.

I've bought that pepper nail polish, and it didn't work for me either. But what has worked is just regular nail polish. I clean my nails and then paint them as often as I can, but I haven't cut them in a while, even if they are uneven. I can't stand the taste of nail polish remover or regular nail polish, so as soon as my hand nears my mouth, it gets put back down right away.

Plus, it's a big bonus when you see your nails starting to grow back and how pretty they can look with a good color on them- it's super motivating. (also, it's harder to see the damage when your nails are pink :D).

So, here's my advice: put down the clippers, pick up a pretty nail polish she likes, and watch 'em grow!
i had the same problem...i used to bite my nails from nerves. now i chew on caps. but what has helped me is just some bitter apple and thinking..my nails could look better and i want them long. so that helped.

hm....don't think so because your nails don;t use the same stuff to grow as your hair
I don't know but I think not because my nails grow really quickly and I can't say the same for my hair.

Tips on how to keep acrylic nails healthy?

    1) Scrub underneath your nails daily with warm water and soap, use an old toothbrush or a nail brush. 2) Get your set changed every 2-3 months. If you keep the same ones for too long they tend to turn yellowish and fungus can start to grow underneath them. Ew! lol

Tips on how to keep acrylic nails healthy?
Be sure to clean the back portion of the nails after eating meals. Also, be sure to get fillings every two weeks and also remember to occassionally change the entire nail with new acrylic.

Also you can use nail anti-fungal medication before painting them to keep away any potential fungal infections.

take a vitamin called BIOTIN.. it should help your nail`s thickness and help it grow healthier... also.. start to get regular manicures so you can stop having those awful, painful hangnails.. and if yo have weak nails.. go to a nail salon and ask them for OPI nail streghtener.. its the best nail strenghtener available.. apply 2 coats and leave on for 2 weeks... remove the polish after 2 weeks and let it breath for a couple of hours.. then reapply.. keep this up.. and you would see great improvement.. cause i did the same thing and now my nails are really healthy.. i can tell because now i can type on the tip top of my nails...Any tips on getting healthy nails??
Drink lots of milk for the calcium and get a clear nail polish that says for thin and brittle nails.. that will help your brittle nails.. put a clear coat of nail polish on the corners of your fingernails and that will help with the hang nails.
well...most imprtntly....make sure of ur health....b regular in ur diet....n make sure u get enough of calcium in ur diet...dnt go for nail growth meds n stuff....jst stay natural....try rubbin garlic on ur nails....the smell wud b annoyin...but u can bear it for a while.....it works.....
I use this stuff called NailGrowth Miracle by Sally Hansen. I swear by it. It comes in a little gold bottle. It's a nail enamel(clear polish) and it strengthens nails and helps them grow....fast! It's pretty inexpensive and you can usually find it at drug stores or Wal-Mart!
I used to have this problem and then I started using this nail strengthen called Rejuvacote. It's a little pricey, but within a few days, my nails were much stronger. Trying taking vitamins. To prevent hangnails, trim your nails across in a straight line then file then to be round!

Just keep them trimmed neatly at home. Daily moisturizers and when you have to use harsh chemicals such as bleach or ammonia try to wear rubber gloves that protects your skin as well. I just had gel nails removed yesterday, what should I do to keep them healthy?

They are long still, but I am a nurse and constantly washing my hands. I am using NailTek on them, but what else can I do to make them strong?I just had gel nails removed yesterday, what should I do to keep them healthy?
You are in a hospital..sooo eat lots of Jello...gelatine is good for hair and nails. Gummmi bears too. They are made out of same thing. Good for hair too.I just had gel nails removed yesterday, what should I do to keep them healthy?
Vitamin E oil and just make sure you keep the Nailtek on there without chips... it will peel off easily...
Simply keep them filed and polished. Put a new coat every week and re touch every two days.

Also I used to cut up garlic and put little pieces into clear nail polish.
Go to the store and buy a bottle of Calcium tablets. Taking one or two Calciums a day keeps my nails strong and healthy!!! Good Luck!!
well, first off, make sure to keep them trimmed..no too long, but not too short. you could try using a nail hardener such as sally hansen or NYC. you could wear the nail hardener by itself or with nail polish, but you'd be better off just leaving ur nails clear and glossy, if ur a nurse.

    Good luck =)
Definitely continue to use nailtek and anything else that promotes growth and strength. But, also be careful when you file and trim your nails, because there are several things that can weaken your nails and causes breakage. For example, when you file, be sure to file in ONE direction only...not back and forth like many are used to doing. This creates tiny cracks and weakens the tip of the nail. Also, never ROUND your nails, because the edge, on the side of your nail bed is the base for your entire nail. This means that your nail is supported by the squared part. If you round it, your nail will only be able to grow so long before it breaks off completely.

Also ensure that you keep away from chemicals like bathroom cleaner and the like, because these can weaken your nails. Just make sure you wear gloves, is what I'm saying. And, if you can keep your nails short, that would definitely help (especially with work).

    so try milk

you can get special nail varnish stuff to help repair nails from boots and places like thatMy natural nails flake even though I am healthy. What can I do ?
    Hi!

My answer will be from a more naturalistic/wholistic point of view, which in my opinion has always worked...

Actually nails and hair are indeed a representation of your health. Now, it could be that your nails are just more fragile than normally, but I would think it has to do more with being healthy. Being healthy from a naturalistic and wholistic point of view in summary means consuming natural food products which contain the least amount chemicals etc. You should definitely leave out such things as flavored coffee creamers, soda, diet bars, and pretty much anything where the ingredients sound like something that would explode in a chemistry lab. These things are really unhealthy for you, no matter how much you exercise etc. Eating healthy is the number one condition for healthy nails.

Also, you can try to get more calcium in you, but the best way to get calcium is eating broccoli, spinach or cauliflower, because calcium is absorbed faster and easier from these than from milk. Milk works too, but like someone mentioned above, you have to drink loads of it.

Nail polish is actually quite damaging for nails even if it's Sally Hansen, because of the vast amount of chemicals in them. While you are trying to take care of your nails, try to avoid putting nail polish (even any clear ones) until your nails are healthy again. Even afterwards, only use nail polish rarely. (If you have healthy nails, you won't need any nail polish :))

Lastly, I will recommend and old Native American trick for growing hair and nails faster. What you do is trim your hair or nails a day or two after the new moon, and they grow faster :) The next new moon is 26 of January :) Also, try to trim your nails before they chip, as chipped nails are also not healthy for the recovery of the nails....

Hope I helped, you should give some of this a try at least! Good luck! :)
My suggestion is Almond Oil. Its been brilliant for me.

My nails are brittle at the best of times but just before Christmas, they were the worst. If the got caught in any little thing, they could break! Someone suggested that I go to a healthfood shop %26amp; buy a little bottle of Almond oil, which I did.

Just one drop on each nail and massage in (I also used it to soften the cuticle so I couls puch it back). I did this twice a day starting off and then once a day, and found that my nails got alot stronger.
maybe this is goint to sound weird bout im frome mexico and is very normal that we use a garlic nail polish and it really works i dont know if u can get it in ur country but if u wanna try cut a little piece ofa garlic and srub it in ur nails evry day fora week .. this is not ajoke u show look maybe in internet that garlic is very helty in so many ways..xoxo
My nails do the SAME thing. They're very thin and i can never grow them long because they break. Try using some other brands of strengthening nail polish. I love Sally Hanson: Hard As Wraps. It's usually just a clear or beige color.
Get a manicure once a week.
Could be a Fungal infection. Ask your Dr. for something to treat it.

Is it healthy to paint a dog's nails?

i don't have a dog and i don't intend on painting any dog's nails but i've always wondered. I see people painting dogs nails in new york city but is it healthy????????Is it healthy to paint a dog's nails?
It's harmless. The polish used is non-toxic. Some folks think it's fun and amusing. I'd rather not waste my time, but I've done it for a few clients. Is it healthy to paint a dog's nails?
Medically, there is nothing wrong with it. Every other way, there is. ;-)

For example, if you and your dog are a canine search and rescue team, it is definitely not healthy. Both you are your dog will experience a lot of public ridicule which could cause emotional trauma. Your friends will needle you endlessly and probably take pictures so that they can hold it over your head forever. Your dog could be ashamed and become listless, preferring to lie on the couch and eat bonbons all day rather than working to save lives and re-unite families. I live in the LA area and have seen it happen. It's not pretty. (Pun intended. :)
yea there pretty on dogs my dog she had turqouised nails and they were adorable! my groomer did it with something called Pawlish its for dogs

    http://www.mollycoddledpets.com.au/catal…
Nail Polish is meant to be non-toxic as it is placed on the body of a person, so it is fine on a dog. Just make sure the dog doesn't lick it while it's wet, or eat a large quantity of it.
    it's perfectly fine :)

i have my dog's nails professionally done every other week.

    she likes being pampered :)
It looks a little silly on a rough and tough field trial dog, but Mary Howley (Candlewood Kennels) does it to hers, and she has produced more NFC's than anyone.
    theres a brand called PAWLISH

I don't remember who its by

    I think OPI

    you can google it though
My groomer always paints our dogs nails before sending them home, nothing wrong with it
Its just as healthy as to a human, nothing wrong with it... you're over analyzing it
It's perfectly healthy for the dog. But you need serious help if you do it.
It's all right, unless the dog dies of shame.
Its fine, but its extremely idiotic
I dont see how it would be unhealthy.

Humans do it. There fine ;)
it is ok to do that
    i wouldn't do it

but check with your doctor if you are on any medication or have any health condition's! - taking vitamins like zinc can mess up your body's balance and cause fits/collapse/sickness in some cases! good luck!

  • Gray color lines on finger nails?

What health problem do I have that causes me to have gray color lines on my nails.Gray color lines on finger nails?
OK, arsenic poisoning causes white lines, lead poisoning causes blue or grey lines. Do you live in an older house, with old pipes. If you do, do not drink directly out of the faucet when you first turn it on, let the water which has been standing in the pipe run out first, say for 10 minutes, you can use that water to water your house plants. Save the water after ten minutes in your frig in a pitcher. As this is showing up in your fingernails, you really need to see the Doctor, he can remove some of the lead from your system. Have any incidents of memory loss lately?Gray color lines on finger nails?
    A Zinc deficiency.
    That is odd.

The first thing I would suspect is blood circulation problems. The second is nutrition.

Guys~ Healthy nails or ';pretty/manicured'; nails for girls?

Would you prefer a girl who had just regular, healthy, clean nails or polished nails?

-MPGuys~ Healthy nails or ';pretty/manicured'; nails for girls?
Both are good! If I already like the girl, her nails don't really influence anything. I like the all natural look, but I also like the manicured look from time to time. I would say for fancy stuff, polished nails, for basic stuff like camping or just around the house, normal nails are good.

If she works in a job wear she has to dress up all the time, then polished nails. If she doesn't work or is just a student or works somewhere more casual, I think pretty/manicured nails can make a girl seem high maintenance. So really it depends on the situation and what she is wearing. But I think both are good!

Are silk nails healthier for your nail beds than acrylic (glue)?

I always see the option for silk and sometimes solar nails at my local salon, but am not sure what these things are and if they are easier on the natural nails than the glue-based acrylic. Are silk nails healthier for your nail beds than acrylic (glue)?
Silk wraps are not as durable as acrylic overlays. The nail enhancements (i.e., acrylic, wraps, gels) are not was causes the damage to your nails. It's the nail tech. If you go to a reputable salon with a licensed nail tech that does quality work then the damage to your natural nails will be minimal. Are silk nails healthier for your nail beds than acrylic (glue)?
SIlk nails are glue based. Acrlics are not. I'm not quite sure how, or why you think they are, but they aren't. SIlk nails aren't very durable, and I really don't recommend them to people. And no, acrylics will not damage your nails as long as you go to a good tech, at a good, reputable salon. If you had bad experiences before, try going to a mid-to-high end salon. Not all of them are good, but I provided links for you to help eliminate some of the guesswork in choosing a good salon. You will pay more, but you won't feel rushed, or feel like you are part of an assembly line process. The cheap salons are just like that though. I can tell that you are going to a discount salon because you mentioned Solar Nails. Discount salons are really the only places that offer these, and they are not some new product, or something special though many people think they are. In case you already don't know it, Solar Nails ARE acrylic nails. Its the same exact acrylic products used on your nails. The term solar nail refers to whats otherwise called Pink %26amp; Whites, or Permanent French in the vast majority of salons owned and operated by Americans. The discount salons are not the places to go for nail services. They want you out that door as quickly as they can possibly get you out of there, and they use the absolut cheapest acrylic products that they can buy, hence the low prices. Plus, they will use a drill and ruin your nails more often than not. In a good salon, it will take about one and a half hours for a full set. And they will not rush you. Instead, you should feel relaxed, and pampered at the same time. For a list of salons all across the U.S., have a look at either of these two links. The first ons is from CND, who is the largest, and oldest nail product company in the world. They manufacture top of the line acrylic and gel products for prodessionals as well as a complete line of skin and nail products for the consumer. The techs that you will find on their salon locator have ALL been company trained in the use of their products, and company certified prior to their being listed on this page. Just find one in your area, and click on it, and a window will open up which will give you very detailed information about that particular tech/salon.

The second link is very good also, and its from a very reputable source. You cannot go wrong with either of them.

    I hope this helps!!!

yes, a silk overlay is much better than acrylic, while it is better to stay away from both, silk overlay will make your nails stronger and will not damage the nail bed. I personally have silk overlay, but you must keep them done!!! hope my answer helped, be blessed!

What are products and tips for growing long, healthy nails?

I say just drink milk. I have super long nails. Try soaking them in water a whole lot because they grow faster the longer they are in water. Be carful not to break them after theyve been in water because they soften for a bit but harden later. I wouldnt use those nailpolish hardening stuff because your nails need oxygen and if you wear those nailpolish things they start to brittle and break. What are products and tips for growing long, healthy nails?
I eat jelly and paint my nails with nail hardening when i want to grow my fingernails and it does work you just have to file them everyday and retouch the nail polish as well as eating jelly!!What are products and tips for growing long, healthy nails?
drink milk, if u hav weak nail n try that nail polish that strengthens ur nails, or if u bite ur nail try nail polish. but 4 stronger nails id go with drink milk 4 calcium
You may also opt for garlic. cut garlic in half then rub it in your nails. Its effective after few times of doing it. Makes you nail strong
Milk for calcium and lots of jello(both good for strong hair and nails). I'd avoid painting your nails with anything but special nail growth products unless you have a problem biting them and in that case, painting them may help you avoid doing that because of the taste of nailpolish.

Also, make sure she doesn't bite her nails or put her hands in her mouth when she's had them painted since that can make her sick. Ditto on the make sure to give her nails time to breathe at least 1 week off for every week on...Is it healthy to paint my 2yr olds nails often?
    I think it's fine as long as she's not a thumb sucker since I'm pretty sure that the nail polish may have some icky chemical in it. You could ask the salon about some non-toxic nail polish or bring your own if you happen to find some especially made for kids, even if it's not as good a quality as ';adult nail polish.';
    NO!
I wouldn't worry so much about the nail polish. But the fumes she's breathing at the salon. It's very toxic for her tiny little body. If I were you, I'd try to find some child polishes or all natural that would be okay for her. And would limit the salons to like once or twice a year. Those chemicals are just too intense for your little one.
I think it's great that you include your daughter in this kind of outting. I would be careful though as to not cover her nails all the time with paint as it will not allow for air to to naturally harden her healthy nails. After prolonged use of nail polish they will get weaker. I do not know if nail salons have a special nail polish for kids. I was not aware of that but it's possible.

Dan - I am assuming you're the only one who gave each of us a thumbs down. First of all nail polish is NOT makeup...get your facts straight.
why do people want there two year olds wearing makeup if you are using the adult nail varnish it is not good for your childs lungs she is breathing chemicalsyes yes i know i am a bloke so i automaticaly qualify for thumbs down in this section but its the truth
As long as she doesnt chew her nails or suck her thumb I dont see a problem
I think adult polish could be harsh on little kids nails but they do make polishes for kids that easly peel and are non toxic.
It can be...just check the nail polish they are using to make sure its non toxic. They make child safe nail polish.

    Good luck!

Help! How do i get my nails to be healthy, long & strong? Any at home remedies? Thanks!?

well if u bite ur nails stop biting them then they will grow nice but once they start curling cclip them because that means they r to long also wash under ur nails alot and if u paint ur nails dont keep the nail polish on for to long because then that damages them and if you want to paint your nails you can always put on the clear coat that says '; Makes your nails healthier and strong'; it comes in an orange bottle =)Help! How do i get my nails to be healthy, long %26amp; strong? Any at home remedies? Thanks!?
There's this stuff by Sally Hansen that really works. I don't remember what it's called but it is clear and has the word hard in it. lol. :) Also, I heard eating jello will help them grow that way!

What should I use on my real nails to help them grow stong and healthy.?

I removed acrylic nails I have worn for more than a year. What should I use on my real nails to help them grow stong and healthy.?
When you remove acrylics your nails are very weak especially after 1 year so try and keep then well manicured.. always file straight do not file the sides, apply a nail hardener and keep them at a reasonable length. That should do it!What should I use on my real nails to help them grow stong and healthy.?
EEK. Your nails must be very brittle right now. I suggest going to the store an buying prenatal vitamins. I know it sounds funny, but they do wonders for hair and nails. There's also a ';hair and nails'; vitamin out there. You can try nail polishes, but I think you're just going to have to let them grow out. There isn't very much you can do when they're that damaged. Good Luck!
Nails are dead tissue you can鈥檛 put anything on them. I take a multivitamin every day and I believe that has helped my nails immensely.
Oh dont worry most girls have same the problem with fake nails.

You can by Sally Handson formula for brittle nails. Just use that while with no nail polish for about 2 week let heal on it own. You can also use some gel for cuts. You know the nail something in morning and day.
Use a hardening or strengthening polish. Other than that, it is best to leave them the way they are. Also, you should drink lots of water and eat healthily.

Is it healthy to use sharpie brand marker on your nails?

Please don't answer saying it's tacky or anything, there's a design i want to do on my nails that only sharpie is fine tipped enough for me to do. I put clear polish on my clear nail before putting the sharpie on, and i put layers of clear polish on after i let the sharpie dry so that it won't easily come off.

So is it healthy for my nails? (: Thanks. Is it healthy to use sharpie brand marker on your nails?
no. it will dry your nails out %26amp; make them brittle.

you should just use regular nail polish. Is it healthy to use sharpie brand marker on your nails?
I asked my mom just now who's a pediatric nurse and she said it's not bad, but it would just be a pain and take awhile to get off. Don't use it too much!
In my opinion, I don't think using Sharpies can hurt your nails..

As long as you have an undercoat.
I imagine it can't be healthy.

    Not sure how bad thou.
just do a base coat like sally hansen

Is it healthy to have long cracks on your nails?

i can take my finger and go over it and theres lots on long bumps on my nails. how do u make them go away for good?Is it healthy to have long cracks on your nails?
if you've been using lots of hand sanitizer, then stop. its bad for your nails. Is it healthy to have long cracks on your nails?
    eeewwwww!!! no way
That's is deffinatley not normal. Maybe your not get enough calcium or vitamin C. There's pills and all sorts of stuff that help your nails grow stronger. Talk to someone who specializes in that area. It's fixable you just have do what's neccessary, either way talk to a proffessional
Are they bumps and ridges or really cracks that go down to your skin?

cracks are more unsettling than ridges because they may end of collecting bacteria and hurting. See a doctor.

If they are just ridges, if you have always had them might be just the way your nails are built. If they are recent it's probably a dietary thing. See if you are getting enough nutrition.

    best of luck
you need to take geletin caps every day...and then use a

';nail-buffer';----go to your local drug store or a nail salon, and buy a square filing BLOCK...and have the nail-stylist show you how to use it---even if there's a language barrier between you...she/he can SHOW you how. Always do it to clean nails, and then after you've buffed them up, wash your hands well, then put a DROP of olive oil at the nailbed (base of your nail) and massage it into the full length of the nail. Don't polish your nails until this oil has completely disappeared (been soaked into the nail %26amp; skin).
    no. take care of nails.
