What's a good way to keep hands & nails healthy?

On vacation, I am planning to horse back ride a lot, and that's brutal on hands. I need some tips on how to keep my hands and nails healthy, strong, and unleathery. What's a good way to keep hands %26amp; nails healthy?
ok so this is what i do:

when ur sleeping, put i thick layer of lotion on your hands and even anywhere below your elbow if you want! then put long socks over your hands and pull them as high up your arms as they can go. Then when u wake up, your hands will have absorbed all the lotion and theyll be super soft for AT LEAST two days!

ps. you can do this on ur feet and legs too! its amazing for rough ankles! What's a good way to keep hands %26amp; nails healthy?
Keep clean, and use a moisturizing sunscreen that is at least 30 SPF and re-apply when you can. Use Aveeno or St. Ives Extra Dry Collagen Elastin lotion at night. An in-between basic manicure would also be a treat.
Take vitamins and use lotion on your hands. When you're horseback riding, wear gloves.
Use Burt's Bees hand cream, it ultra moisturizing and all natural.
